Vista SP1 Fixes Lenovo T61 Maximum Memory Bug
March 24th, 2008
Vista Service Pack 1 fixes an annoying bug on the Lenovo T61 where the system would only recognize 3MBs of RAM (even if you had installed 4). This bug only showed up on Vista 32-bit editions.

The bug is now history post-upgrade. Nice to see that Microsoft is getting a lot of these bugs fixed!

Vista SP1 just changed the number displayed from “how much memory the o/s can see” to “how much memory is installed”. The difference is only semantics, the t61 can still only address 3gb of memory. (A limitation from the intel chipset, otherwise you could get around 3.5gb, then being a limitation of the 32-bit architecture.)
Yup! great SP1 marketing gimmick!
32 bit systems cannot address memory beyond 3.2 to 3.5 GB regardless of how much the Vista info shows.
Good job Microsoft… Vista = Windows ME II
